**The Strut Options Explained**

The main purpose of having any strut all is about rigidity.  With no strut, the davits are free to swing about, possibly out of control in a sea way.  This is also the feature that permits the davits to be folded and to be adjusted if a new dinghy is being hoisted.  The operator of the davit system would notice problems hoisting the dinghy in control even at anchor.  The heavier the dinghy, the greater the need for a strut system equal to the greater demands.

LS1 locking strut kits:  Used as a pair to connect the davit to the yacht's rail. This is adequate for only the lightest of dinghies.  If the dinghy with no motor is to be hoisted this provides a budget system that will do that job.   Some stern rails, particularly yachts with stern perch seats cannot provide an effective "angle of attack".

LS1 / CS1 strut package:  By adding a single connecting strut across the outer ends of the davits, an excellent "angle of attack" is created, and the connecting strut acts in the same way that the stern rail, but with one important difference. The single connecting strut is adjusted to "preload" the davit system (please see manual under strut adjustment).   This then assists in the important goal of rendering the dinghy "rock solid motionless"  which is what this is really all about   This is a good choice for dinghy / motor weight under perhaps 150lbs.

CS4 double connecting strut system:   This is simply the ultimate.  If you have perhaps 1o foot RIB and a 10 HP outboard or greater.  The davits with this strut can withstand pretty much whatever the sea can throw at the yacht.  It is also capable of much greater holding force if your dinghy and motor is pushing the weight window.   If you are thinking solar panels, the CS4 provides the perfect starter platform.   Just add a CS1 single strut and a panel kit and you are pretty much solar ready.
