FOUR MODES OF OPERATION

1)  Attach halyard and deploy the sling. Standard length is 9’ for yachts with freeboard of 5’ or less. Force the sling open and “float” the victim into it with boat hook or by hauling on their safety line. Using the halyard winch, “roll” the victim up the side of the hull until level with the deck. The victim is held securely against the hull even if the yacht is rolling in heavy seas.

2)  If the victim is injured, detach shackles one at a time from the deck mounts, and clip on to the outboard netting tube of the B.O.B. Sling. The halyard will now lift both sides at once, effectively immobilizing the victim until they can be attended to on deck.

It is now necessary to secure the sling with a tether, so a rolling yacht cannot throw the victim against the hull side.

3)  If the victim is in good condition and is able to fend for themselves, leave the sling attached to the deck mounts and detach the halyard. Drop the free end into the water and place a fender under the sling at deck level. The system is now a soft boarding ladder. The victim simply climbs up the hull side on their own. Orange reflective tape fluoresces underwater even in bright sunlight.

4)  The unit may be used as a boarding ladder on any yacht on a non-emergency basis.
